Polythene Soak Bags
Heavy-duty 500 gauge (125 micron) polythene soak bags, designed for soaking willow before weaving and other craft applications.
The bags are supplied with two plastic cable ties for securely closing both ends. For best results, choose a bag approximately 2 feet longer than the willow you intend to soak, allowing enough extra length to fold and tie the ends securely.
Available Sizes:
- 8", 12" or 15" wide
- 6', 8' or 10' long
Specifications:
- 500 gauge (125 micron) polythene
- Supplied with 2 plastic cable ties
- Suitable for soaking willow lengths before weaving
How to Use
- Choose a soft, non-abrasive surface, such as a lawn, old rug or carpet, to help prevent damage to the bag.
- Lay the bag flat and carefully bunch up one end.
- Fold the end over by a couple of inches and secure it tightly using one of the supplied cable ties.
- Place your willow into the bag.
- Fill the bag with water, ensuring the willow is fully covered.
- If necessary, close the open end in the same way using the second cable tie.
- Leave the bag and willow lying flat while soaking.
A slight slope can help keep the willow fully covered and assist with filling and draining.
Important: We recommend soaking the bags flat rather than standing them upright. Standing the bag upright increases the water pressure against the sides, which can increase the risk of leaks.
Please note: Take care when handling the bag and avoid sharp or abrasive surfaces that could puncture the polythene.
